Yesterday when we got stuck on an escape ramp because we wanted too....

Ok so yesterday, Thursday, we go to the YouthWorks picnic because it was the last day we were going to be leaving the next day. So we pass this sighn that says 'Truck Escape Ramp 1/2 mile.' So Sam says, "Hey it would be so sweet if we went up one of those just for the heck of it. We get closer and the ramp comes into veiw, and we all start going "Do it! Do it! Do it!" So our driver, Corry does it , and we're all cheering untill the vanrolls to a stop and the bck wheels start spinning in place. We're like "o, snap!"
So all our attemts to dig out the van are futile and then a cop comes, luckily there was no charge, and a tow truck comes and when he hears that we're hear on a mission trip to help the commuity he gives us a very genorous discount.
So yah, God kept us out of trouble that day, even though we sort of went looking for it!

Here's a little post by Nathan K:
hey all whats poppin'? no just kidding. we are all having a blast this week but are all anxious to get home. last night, we had all cook out for all the community that we helped out this week. we had quite a few people there and the food was oh so delicious. seriously it was. thats all for now. seeya.

Here's Peter W.:
hello this is Peter W. sorry if im bad at this i'm a rookie at blogging. Well today we drove in the van's for about 7 hours only stopping at B.P., Taco Bell-Arby's-Subway-MickyD's, and the EXON gas station. Today was boring but yesterday we had some leader mistakes. Byron started of by locking the keys in the "Bob Barker- What?"van. He later called AAA and got his keys back. Then on the way back from the cook-out Corey drove into a run away truck ramp on a dare from some of the students it took some tow trucks to get the "cat and fish smelling" van. eventually we got all three of our vans up and working and ready for the ride home! See you tomorrow!!!!! BYE!

Notes from some students!

It's been a fun time in West Virgina. I got to spent some time with little kids talking about God. I never have experienced a time like this. I feel I am so close to God. I feel that he is using my talents to work the best I can for Him.

I 've had an incredible week at Bluefield, it was life changing. I feel like our group has really left a lasting impact on the community. We're at a hotel right now and are having a great time. I'm so glad I came to serve God.

We are in Ohio!!

Wow. What a trip this has been. We have really seen God work. We made it safely to our hotel and are getting ready to eat. Because of an unexpected "glitch" last night (You'll have to ask everyone about the locked keys and Corey's special exit) we weren't able to post much last night.

We will post some stuff after dinner! Thanks again for your prayers!

Our last day here in WV.

Wow. What an experience this has been! We've spent the last couple of days building relationships with people in the community, doing different work projects, and finding time to bond as a group with experiences at night. You'll have to ask the students about the all of the activities they have been involved in. (Some might come home with new clothes they got for free at the mission. :) You should all be very proud of your students as they were stretched this week and represented Calvary and Christ so well. We hope to put up several pictures in the next day or so. Thanks again for your prayers during this time!

We'll have some more students post tonight!

A new day, new things happening!!

(Cassie S. was joking... as most of you already know :)

(Pastor B.)

I'm going to turn it over to Jeffrey O.:

Today in Bluefield was great. We went to the Wade center which is a rec center for underpriveleged kids in bluefield. In case you already don't know we are staying in Bramell a couple minutes from Bluefield. Hopefully our last day will be great!!!

We went to BK at likw 10:30 pm after our church meeting in the evenings. Byron saysout of nowhere, "Hey, who wants to go to BK?" We're like "yah! So we all go to the vans and my van was blasting music and rocking the van, which isn't always exactly safe because in some states the 12 passanger vans we use are illeagle because they tip over easy! Yah aand at Burger King there were like some 2 drunk guys in the parking lot messing with a tazzer/or stun gun and they were like, "stay away or we'll like tazzer you!" and we were like "alright then!"

Here we are!!

Hello!

It has taken some time to get back up an running with the blog! (We'll try to have some students write down stuff tonight...) Things are going well. We got here safely and only got lost once :). We have been put to work with various sports, childrens, clothing folding, and anything else they have for us to do. Many students have commented on the poverty and I have appreciated how ALL of them have stepped up. I have so many stories of students stepping up and using their gifts to glory God. It's absolutely amazing to see God work in and through them! I hope you'll get to hear their amazing stories! Yesterday we went to a look out point during our evening activities and tonight we'll go to a cavern. Thanks again for the sacrifices you've made so we may serve! I try to post more pictures later!

Chillin' at the Hotel

(L-R) Dave, Jake, Mitch, Austin and Sam
Hey parents,

Whats up this is your boyz...

So as you already read we went to Scalawag Tag and it was totally insane. Jake destroyed everyone (not really) and it was a lot of fun. We hung out with Craig and he was great, he loves his new job. (Student Pastor at Four Corners Church.) We are now chillin' at the pool, skating, and hackysacking(video coming soon). We are all starting to ond as a group and learn everyones names (there are a lot of people to meet!) From us we say rock hard, love much and party in the cobra van!

Much love,

Sam, Jake and Austin

PS Cobra van is sweet

We are in Cincinnati!

After a safe (but long :) trip we made it to Cinci! Great time getting to know each other in the vans. It is definitely HOT out!! We headed over for some laser tag (ask the students about it when they get home.. Especially the pirate ship) then headed over to the hotel for some group time and swimming. I'm really enjoying seeing some students already step up as leaders and servants. I was impressed to see some students clean up our mess in McDonald's after lunch and look for opportunities to help our group grow closer as a team! We'll have some student posts a bit later. Continue to pray that we will be sensitive to the opportunties God gives us to serve!

This Saturday!

Wow! Time has flown! In just a few days we are leaving. I have been praying earnestly for this trip and truly believe that God has something great in store for us! We will do our best to update everyone on our travels. It will be exciting to see how God will use our diverse group. Stay tuned!!!
